FOOTBALL

Cale Ledergerber

In football I have played on varsity since I was a sophomore and we have made it to the playoffs in those two seasons and we had a quarterfinals appearance. In track I’m currently ranked top 15 in the state for long jump and my relay team is top 10 in the state.

My goals for this year are to go to state in track and to make it far into the playoffs in football. I want to become an all conference player in the WB6 on both sides of the ball. I love football because it has helped teach me discipline, it helps me stay in shape and be stronger, and it has helped me meet a ton of new people.

GYMNASTICS

Claire Vanderlaan

Hi my name is Claire Vanderlaan and I’m currently a Diamond level gymnast in the Xcel program at Great River Gymnastics in Fulton, IL. I’ve been doing gymnastics for as long as I can remember but recently have made a comeback in the sport as an adult. Within my first season back of doing gymnastics I have won First Place All Around at 2 meets, 3rd Place All Around at our most recent meet, and have medaled in the top 5 at every meet we’ve had in all events. I
have also qualified to the State Championships this season as well and will compete in Dekalb this March! I’m excited to see what new skills I will achieve over summer in the off season and get ready for a new set of routines for the fall! I love gymnastics because it allows you to express yourself on beam and floor but also shows your strength. My favorite event is the uneven bars! I can’t wait to represent Rituals Chiropractic this year

Noah Bellini

Noah Bellini is a local MMA fighter that is going places! He won his most recent fight in Davenport and has a winning record. Noah trains both here in the Sauk Valley and also in Chicago.
This guy is the full package. Hard working, focused, talented, and willing to put in what is necessary in order to put his best foot forward in the ring/cage.

Not only that, he is smart and truly a nice guy that is focused on promoting his Sauk Valley area.

ULTRA RUNNER

I get asked why I love running a lot by non-runners. I run because I love the feelings it gives back to me. Before running I could not run a mile. I was not healthy and felt so sickly. After two brain surgeries, I let my disease become my identity. I wanted to change all of that. I saw someone posting about their races and said, “I want to do that too.” So I signed up for my first 5K and went after it. Ten years later, I'm training for my 4th one hundred mile race. Last year, I conquered my first travel race which was a 100 miler race in Texas. In 2021, I finished 100 miles at the Hennepin Hundred Race and the year prior was at a small event in Dixon, IL called Hindsight where I completed my first 100 miler.
Always thinking about that big smile with tears in my eyes when I completed my first mile. Oh how far I've come. Never say never. I don't feel like that sick, weak girl anymore. I am a strong woman who will throw weights in the gym and run that race to the end. Running was a huge part of this transformation. I am forever grateful for both running and the amazing running community that I have found. Running also helped prepare me for the next battle ahead.
During my running adventures, I was diagnosed with cancer. Due to my good health, I was able to recover much sooner than most. Running taught me to endure the pain to the finish. I just keep putting one foot in front of the other. The pain is temporary but that finish line is forever, never give up. Jen H Best lesson ever, thanks to running.
My goals for 2023 are to be better than last year's version of me. I am doing this by doing things differently by working with coaches to dial in my weak areas. I am in the gym 3 days a week, strength training along with building up the miles. I am my own competition. Goal beat 2022 Jen Heller. My “A” race is Dino Valley 100 in November and my “B” race is Schuetzen Nein 9 hour race in June.

SOFTBALL

What I love about softball is the competitive environment. I love playing with my travel team and having the opportunity to test myself against the best players in the country. I also love playing with my friends and representing my school and community. Another amazing thing is all of the amazing places softball has taken me. I have played in Texas, Colorado, California, Florida, Oklahoma, Georgia and Tennessee to name a few. I have had the chance to see a lot of beautiful places and I look forward to doing it all again this spring and summer!

Powerlifting

Julene Hurley

I have been powerlifting for 5 years now. It took me the same number of years to figure out that this type of training was for me. I went from home workouts and running, to body pump style workouts, to strength training. I knew once I started strength training, it was what I wanted to do and pursue to be at a competitive level in the sport of powerlifting. My first competition was in 2018. It was the most fun & empowering thing to meet new people, and cheer each other on to make our lifts! The community surrounding powerlifting is so amazing, and I am forever grateful for those who have been a part of my journey. I set IL State records at that meet and all of it fueled me to get better on every level of my health. My driving force is to be a healthy Mom for my son who is now 11. To love on him and show him that with faith, patience, dedication, and consistency, we can meet our goals in everything we want to do.
In May 2020, during Covid I was training in my barn and failed a squat. I ended up breaking both fibulas and was put in ankle to thigh splints. I was wheelchair bound for a day and then was told I could cut off the splints and try to walk. From there, I progressed walking, then training again. I kept the faith, determination, and consistency in my rehab and vowed that I would be back on that platform again as soon as possible. Ten months later, I did a meet and successfully completed the weight that broke my legs. During my rehab, a bone density scan was done on me since I was 46 years old. Fifteen years prior to that, I had one done because I was in the throes of anorexia. I was diagnosed with Osteopenia because the health of my bones were poor for my age. The bone scan, now at 46 years old, came back and my bone density was normal for my age! I fully feel that strength training and changing my nutritional habits directly contributed to my bones being now healthy!
I knew then that I wanted to empower every woman I knew to employ some type of strength training into their life.
I now compete at the highest stage of Multi-ply Powerlifting with top lifters in the nation. It was a level I wasn't sure I'd ever achieve, but I just followed the philosophy I wrote about above for my son and for others that I work with to get here.
I believe in strength and stability training. The stronger and more stable you are, the better you can handle healing from any injury, accident, health procedure, or surgery. Being strong and stable also helps prevent all those things! My philosophy aligns wonderfully with Rituals Chiropractic & Wellness. I enjoy training functional movement for all ages & body types, to employ methods to help others move efficiently, and to empower others feel confident in their progress towards optimal health. I am so grateful for this opportunity!

Ultra Runner

Dan Blumhoff is a local trail and ultra runner with some large goals this year. He already accomplished an overall win at the ChillBilly 2 hour race and he is driven to run a sub-6 hour 50k at Earth Day Trail Races this spring.
(Side note: a 50 kilometer race is approximately 31 miles and is the first distance past the traditional marathon length of 26.2 miles.)
.
Dan’s best finishes and race memories include finishing the 50 miler at the Potawatomi Trail Races last April, earning a “spanker” at Shuetzen Nein 9 hour trail race, and PRing both his 50k and 50 mile times at the Pinetum Mind Games race last July.
